What a dreamy wedding I got to shoot! Dave & Crystal were so kind and so much fun to hang out with, they got married at Flemings Beach Park on the beautiful Island of Maui. Talk about an incredible wedding! It was intimate, breathtaking and stunning to photograph; I can’t even believe I had the opportunity to be a part of their day. As you can see from the photos, these two are deeply in love, their love is adorable, I even caught myself tearing up a few times! I hope that you enjoy these photos as much as I do. Also, there is a blurb about the wedding from the bride after the post!
From the Bride:
“We had always talked about a destination wedding… A wedding were we could spend a week celebrating with our closest friends and family, lying in the sun, playing in the ocean and completely relaxing before our big day. However, anyone who has planned a wedding knows, once you start weighing the pros and cons of a destination wedding, you realize that you need to surrender a great amount to have the wedding of your dreams.
Dave proposed on our 6th anniversary and we had to make that difficult decision. We elected to stay close to home, so everyone we knew would be able to celebrate with us. After a year of planning and prepping, our 7th anniversary arrived. We decided to completely scratch everything we had planned thus far, and began to plan the wedding of our dreams. We thought to ourselves, “What better way to celebrate our love, then in Maui!” Within the next week, we had our plane tickets booked, made calls to our closest friends and family and reserved a hotel for our guests to stay. It was the best decision of our lives (so far).
We spent a week in paradise with the people in our lives we love most, and made lifelong memories in the process! Some of the most memorable were the “Welcome to Hawaii cocktail party” in my parent’s suite, the day after everyone arrived and a small intimate take-out dinner by the resort pool with some of our best friends. We hosted a “Beach Day” as the rehearsal dinner that included paddle boards, surf boards, kayaks, bocce ball and the most amazing Hawaiian BBQ. It was the perfect time for everyone to get acquainted, to relax and to remember what getting married is all about, love and family (and fun).
Our ceremony was held at DT Fleming Beach Park in Kapalua. This was, at the risk of sounding cliché, our favorite part of our wedding day! We asked a very close family friend to marry us, and when the day finally came he delivered THE perfect ceremony. Our ceremony was full of personal details which were uniquely “us.” Specifically, writing our own vows and a ring warming ceremony that included passing our rings around the circle of our friends and family, asking each for a blessing. The feeling of having our family and friends encircling and supporting us is something that we’ll never forget.
We were completely astonished with the amount of love and effort that filled the entire trip. What started out as a group of 70 friends and relatives, by the end of the weekend, became one big family. Our wedding day exceeded any expectations we could have imagined. The entire weekend was our absolute dream wedding!”
